Alternating Current (AC) Resistance of helically stranded Conductors

The electrical resistance of conductors for overhead lines depends on the cross-section, the conductivity of the aluminium alloy, the lay length of the aluminium layers. The presence of a steel core can increase the resistance due to core magnetizing effects. The TB describes a process of AC resistance calculation for bare stranded aluminium conductors, both with and without a steel core.
