Intermittent Operation – Experience with Hydrogenerators

Intermittent operation with increased stress cycling results in wear of components and, in the worst case, may lead to a failure. This survey deals with stop frequency, wear and other important observations, performed modifications, installation of monitoring equipment, changes in maintenance interval and changes in rate of loading, for 3 classes of intermittent operation.
